This whimsical painting captures the luxurious allure of a poolside retreat in the resort neighborhood of Stelida on Naxos Island. This village is located between the main town of Naxos Chora, and the beach town of Agios Prokopios. While I didn’t have the luxury of staying here, it was a beautiful (but hot!) hike through this hillside community, which offers sweeping views of the sea and terraced landscapes. My natural style leans towards illustration, and while I am painting more loosely these days, I still like to incorporate more linear features when the subject calls for it – like this cheery, poolside vacation scene.
